Founder: Niall J. Strickland, NDBS, MIB Grad, MBA
Up until 1997, Niall enjoyed a long and varied career with Allied Irish Banks in Ireland, the United Kingdom and the USA. He was privileged to work in all aspects of global banking and was a lender to companies ranging from Fortune 500 clients in the USA such as Ford Motor Corp, Kmart & International Paper, to small and medium businesses in Ireland during this time. This has given him a thorough insight into the inner workings of a diversified range of businesses & industries and allows him to use his extensive knowledge for the benefit of client companies.
In 1991, he was given the opportunity to lead a team of credit controllers in one of AIB’s UK leasing subsidiaries with responsibility for winding down the operation, which was in liquidation. Based in London, he managed a large team of credit controllers and succeeded in minimising the bank’s exposure while building a lease portfolio management system that ensured recovery of the maximum of outstanding receivables in the shortest possible time.
In 1996 he was appointed marketing manager within AIB Corporate Banking with responsibility for establishing a marketing function in this area of rapid business growth for the group. As a member of the corporate banking management team he was also responsible for producing the rolling 3-year business plan. Using new technologies, he created the first marketing CD ROM ever produced by an Irish bank. He also developed a marketing software application to allow Corporate Banking to lock in key marketing messages into all presentations made to customers resulting in significant market-share growth for the operation. Niall was also responsible for new product development and advertising campaigns.
In 1997, Niall was invited to join the board of an internet and intranet software and systems development company where he had executive responsibility for the development of the operations function. His achievements included: streamlining of processes and introduction of new work practices, doubling of production without a corresponding increase in human resource costs, closing sales with key clients and participation in the financial management of the business. He was also a board member of a sister company, which was engaged in providing tailored computer training solutions.
Since 1999, Niall has worked as an independent management consultant and program manager for financial institutions and SME’s, predominantly in Dublin and New York.
